mtg w/ Maya R 9/21 ~25 min, drop-in (she came after my email)

- calc is the problem. says she "gets it in lecture then blanks on quizzes". mixed up chain + product rule on quiz 3, knows it
- hasn't gone to okafor OH. didn't open his canvas msg, felt embarrassed
- working ~25 hrs/wk at walgreens since aug, dad's hours got cut. picks up closing shifts, so HW 4 got missed
- asked about dropping calc. told her last day to drop w/o W is 9/28, W deadline 10/30. she wants to stay pre-med, calc is prereq for PHYS + biochem sequence
- mentioned her mom has been sick and she's been driving her to appts some weekends (don't put this in anything)
- other classes fine, likes ENGL a lot
- agreed: OH tue 9/22 2pm, okafor's review session tue 5pm, MLC tutoring 2x/wk
- she's going to ask manager to cut to 15 hrs but worried about money. doesn't know about emergency grant or if she's eligible for work-study. she said ok to connect her w/ fin aid
- f/u: check in after midterm 1 (10/1) -> meeting 10/2?
